Monastery of Toso Nero
There are several paths to reach Toso Nero, the hardest being from Kamares, climb the mountain and back down behind, especially in summer I would not recommend. The second being from the small church Ayia Barbara just before Katavati and ride through Ayios Eleftherios, then you meet the pathway coming from Kamares. I chose the simplest, going by car to Ayios Andreas and stopping up a farm before Ayia Marina. From there, a path leads past Ayia Marina which is always superb, perched on a rock and overlooking the west coast of Sifnos, very difficult to access and then Ayios Konstatinos.
When we finally see Toso Nero (the first picture is zoomed), we still understand the difficulty of the way to go to the monastery. The descent continues in the middle of a very green and dense vegetation.
The walk continues in some lunar rocks in the middle of which a red dirt road is drawn. Finally the monastery itself to us in a final and endless climb.
The monastery is open and allows, which was my case, a break in the shade of the thick walls.
